Please read for all the information needed on how an Independent Study (IS) Contract is established.
Who is eligible for independent study?
- Any student who is going on a planned 1-15 day(s) absence may request an I.S. contract
How much in advance do I need to let the school know?
- At least 5 school days advance notice. Weekends & Non-school days do not count as teachers & staff need an approiate amount of time to gather all material necessary.
- Example - Parent calls Friday to inform staff of I.S. request, packet will be ready for pick up by the following Friday.
What documents do I need?

What to do once back to school & When is everything due?
- Students have 1 week upon return to complete all work from each class.
- In addition, students must provide the Attendance Office one work sample from each subject.
Who does my student contact if they have questions regarding work when away?
- It is up to the student to stay ontop of their school work, making sure to email their teacher(s) when in need of assistance.
It is important to note that students with an IEP do not qualify for I.S. unless it is stated on student's currenty IEP that I.S. can be offered. To inquire more on this please reach out to your students case manager.
